3-D Cad
Working mainly in "surfcam", a very powrful 3-D surface modeling design software, Ken is able to take your idea and draw it in 3-D. The data can then be used to CNC prototypes, foundry patterns and production tooling.
One of Ken's latest projects was drawing up a clients idea for new DJ style speakers. He was able to add design influence to the original design. Then he drew the components in 3-D. He then was able to CNC machine two sets of functioning prototypes. From there the CNC prototypes were used to create RTV rubber tooling so multiple sets of speakers could be cast in urethane resin and used for market research. The 3-D data was then exported in IGES for the manufacturer to create tooling from.
